I'm baaack! I missed you all - start induction tomorrow! (Long)
I've only been gone 6 weeks but it feels like forever! I took my foray into the world of "healthy" (pls note sarcasm!)eating because the "experts" (sarcasm again) told me that it would be better for me. Some of you may remember that I had a breast cancer scare and I have some lumps I'd like to get rid of. So, I took all of their advice - I've given up caffeine (did that gradually), quit smoking (cold turkey 8 days ago), started taking aerobics 4x a week, weight lifting 2x a week (a month ago). I'm eating low fat. Guess what???? I've gained 6 pounds and I'm craving sugar and carbs so badly I'm eating everything in sight! I absolutely overdosed on pasta the other night - within 1/2 an hour of eating it I feel asleep SITTING UP ON THE COUCH! You would have thought I was on drugs (well, I was, but people don't think of food as drugs).
So, I am back. I've done a good deal of research and reading on the subject, looked at other diets, but I really believe this one suits me. I am going to be careful about red meat (it's the hormones in the beef rather than the beef itself that is the problem) and make sure I use nitrate free products. This time I promise to keep track of my carbs so I can find my CCL like ttime!
I've weighed myself and taken my measurements. I'm on my way to the grocery store to stock up for the week. I have to travel on business this week from Wednesday to Friday, but I know I can handle that. I'll need your support to get through induction, since the last time I did it I was still smoking. I know someine told me they quit smoking on Atkins - was it emma? Any suggestions on handling cravings?
I was so thrilled to see so many familiar names on the archive boards - so many successes on the stats posted 3/1. And I'm thrilled to see so many new people I can get the chance to know. As I said, I'm back with a vengeance!
