The culture we live in

Now i am certainly not about to blame the culture for my A.
However, att he moment I can hardly watch the news or read a newspaper. Part of that is because my emotions are so disturbed at my current situation. However, i also hate reading or hearing about A's or the break up of marriages, or other sexual scandal.
I was wondering if those of you who are now out of an A, do you try to limit the amount of c*** that you allow to enter in to your head from the 'culture'?

For me, the biggest irritant of the culture nowadays is the overwhelming sense of entitlement everyone seems to embrace. From the way people rear their children to politics to business. It's all "I deserve", "I want", "I am special" -- seems like the golden rule has been left by the wayside. The pervasive lack of character and accountability is appalling. We're a selfish, spoiled lot here in western culture. Yah, I cringe reading the news, watching tv, even listening to the radio -- and probably a lot more so now because I identify my own behavior and am convicted with "I am (was) not better than that." I allowed myself and the people I love to become victims of my own skewed, defective thinking and expectations. Seeing my ugliness reflected to me in the mirror of modern society is so painful, and finding the balance between a healthy sense of remorse and just plain ol' crushing guilt is still difficult. So, yes, I do limit the amount of exposure I have to media -- and that reason is twofold, 1) I'm sickened by it, and 2) I don't want to be influenced by the constant barrage of crapola. This is a seminal moment in my life and I want ensure the best possible outcome by surrounding myself with the most positive, healthy, and inspirational influences possible.
