I too made several attempts before finally ending my EA.
Welcome and thanks for coming out of lurkdom.
Yeah, these things are tough to lick. No back paddling, you here and hopefully to stay. Now the work and road to healing begins. Glad you are back and stay here and post. We are here to help along the way...

Welcome back, and keep reading, learning, and posting to support others. With your professional background you could be a great asset to this board.
Time and distance from the A/AP will give you the answers you seek as to why you chose this self destructive path. I am sure the reasons would be similar to any form of addiction and one can keep trying to beat it, but "doing it" is what guarantees success.

Thank you for the welcome!
Yes, I hope that my back ground in recovery can be an asset to this board. Although my experience is in drugs and alcohol the key fundamentals of recovery are the same. When working with clients I always ask the question, “is your current behavior getting in the way of what you define as a successful life.”
Greeneyed,
That would be great...I think others would benefit from it also.
Welcome,
We share similar backgrounds - I am a violence against women's counselor. In that role, I also work with addictions and mental health issues as women try and manage the impacts of violence on their lives. I have often sat in amazment at my choices ... here I was working in this area with women, while participating actively in the destruction of my life, and the life of another woman's for just a man. The crazy disconnect in that still haunts me. I am an activist for social injustice, and here I was rolling around in the back seat of my car, degrating myself and spitting on the feelings of so many innocent people.

Thank you very much TU. It takes courage to talk about how we really know
Stages of Change-
I will also attach more information that goes into more detail but here are the basics:
I am so happy you post the Stages.
I have copied into the Healing Library.
