It was chilly and cloudy when I woke up 3 hours ago, and I thought, "Gee, I'm glad I axed the barbeque idea and just bought deli stuff and finger food for my guests later today. Just now the sun has peaked through the clouds

Oh my Iddy, you have had some dreadful weather there this year. Glad you survived it without frost bite, heat stroke, or getting blown away!

Whether you think you can or you think you can't you are probably right. A parrot can repeat what it has learned but the mark of true intelligence is applying what is learned.

Happy Labo(u)r day everyone!
Thanks to everyone here, from newbies to vets who do some much needed and sometimes thankless labour! And congrats and hugs to everyone who is doing some really tough self-work/labour during the sometimes up and down ending process.
I love the changing of the seasons, from winter to spring and then summer to fall. Though Fall has to be my most loved season - I love the cool weather, the changing leaves (which is rather dramatic where I am), and being the perpetual student that I am, Fall has always meant the start of school, the start of new things.
Today/this Fall I have quite a few things to look forward to - a fresh start and seeing myself get through the first 3 weeks of NC (as of Friday it was 3 weeks), I'm going on my first trip overseas to present at a conference at Oxford in the UK (so, both exciting and scary!) and it will be my first season out hunting (I know, not everyone's 'bag', but the way I see it it's not only a way of providing my own food, it's a way to re-connect with myself and nature. I've been looking forward to it, as odd as that may sound, since I started the process almost a year ago. But, that's a whole other topic!).
Anyway, happy Labo(u)r day to all and I hope you reflect on what this changing of seasons means to/for you and you give yourself and others a bit of extra love for all the (hard) work you (and possibly they) have done.
((hugs!))
