When you block a number, does it alert the sender that the message or call was blocked or does it just not deliver the message?

Thanks!

Hi Jane,

I think it depends on your cell provider. I'm with Verizon, and I'm not able to block phone calls (I just don't answer them), but I can block text messages, and no, there is no notification to the sender that they've been blocked. They can text me, but I just don't receive their messages.

With Verizon, to block text messages, you text to the number 8888. Your message should read, B (space) (000)000-0000 (well, the number you wanna block, obviously).

Some smart phones have apps that allow you to block specific numbers from both calling and texting.

Or you could be like me and just change your number :) It's a hassle for a few days, but it's worth the peace of mind knowing that I've completely disabled contact from a certain someone.
