So there was an article on FOX news today about the Kama Sutra being the best sex book in the world. So I wondered, have any of you read it and do you agree with that statement? If you disagree, what do you consider the best book out there on the subject.
I have read it and for a book written in 350 AD in Sanskrit, it's still very much relavant today. I think the fact that its more than just a book of sexual positions and techniques is whats made it endure for so long. It also focuses on relationship practices and spirituality as well. Things the Hindu's regard as very important for a lasting relationship. It talks about everything from gaining trust

Loth,
I've never actually held
OH yeah....its way more than what it's perceived to be by the media, and in fact the "Kama Sutra" wasn't its first incarnation either. The man who wrote it, Vatsyayana originally wrote it as 136 (I think) verses in poetic form. It was written towards men, though women were encouraged to read it as well. It even goes into how to find a wife and what to look for. Oddly enough, even though Hindu's are known for arrannged marriages it claims marrying someone for love is always the best practice. It also talks about sex with other peoples wives! lol. It also tells you how to make yourself more attactive to the opposite sex, physically and otherwise. Theres really a wealth of information there, but most westerners just want it for the sex info.
The spiritual stuff is really interesting. It talks about the 4 Hindu tenents of life : Dharma- virtuous living, Artha- Material prosperity, Kama- Aesthetic and sexual pleasure and Moksha- Liberation.

Hehehe...I really am such a nerd...but I love learning about different cultures
the portion about Moksha is particularly interesting...Moksha involves the cycle of death and rebirth
