Not sure what to think ...

Do I let this go? This is a kind of sticky situation, one that I am not sure I can do anything about anymore. Over a year ago, possibly two, DH uncle gave me a CD he had made that had some episodes of a comedy show I liked. Well, he obviously wasn't paying attention what he put on there because there was a porn folder on there. If he had made the CD for DH I owuld have thought he might of put it there on purpose, but considering it was for me I think it was a mistake. Well, one of the files was labeled 17 year old girl masturbates. In the US, isn't anything under 18 considered child porn? This CD is so old that I doubt he even has that file anymore. I know him, and don't think he's a child molestor or anything, but it did freak me out a bit. Anyway, I grabbed the comedy off it and told DH to destroy the CD because possesing it can get us in ALOT of trouble. Should DH talk to him about it? Do you think it's serious enough to warrant talking to the police? I'd hate to start some family crap over this. I know men like young girls, but 17? Yikes. BTW, I didn't open the file. I suppose it's possible the chick was over 18 and posed as a younger girl, I guess I won't know that since the file is gone now.

You want to hang the man because he looks at porn? At 17 year olds masturbating? As you said, chances are they're not 17 anyway. AND, what's the diff between 17 & 18 anyway. Today's 17 year olds try to dress and act 21 all the time.

If it was 8 or 10 year olds, I might be worried, but that file, I don't see anything to worry about. If it would make you feel better, have your husband tell him what was on the CD, and ask him to be more careful in the future.

>>You want to hang the man because he looks at porn?<<

Uh .. NO I had an issue with the age of the person in it, not that is was porn.

I said it's possible, doesn't mean she isn't 17. It is illegal to posses child porn, and I was asking if 17 is considered child porn. Sheesh Jo. I also happen to think there is a big difference between 17 and 18. Dressing older doesn't make you more mature.

Leticia, 17 IS underaged but since you've already destroyed the CD and have no proof, there's not much you can do. Plus, you didn't look at that file to see what was actually on it, so it may have been a poor joke between friends or who knows what. But yes, I think you should tell your DH because he may know things about his Uncle that you don't!

There isn't much difference in maturity between 17 and 18 either. The only real difference is legal. 17 will still get you 20, while 18 wont get you anything but trouble. I don't think you have anything to worry about for several reasons. One, the CD is gone, the file is no longer available, and two, if she really was 17, there is hardly a way to prove it, even with the video file. So, No worries. 17 is not nearly as bad as under 16. Now we are talking about sicko's!!!!

Hi Leticia,

I think your concerns are good ones, and I would definitely tell your husband and have him mention it to his Uncle. However, as many have said let it go personally. Who knows how that got on there, it could have nothing to do with your husbands' uncle. A lot of crap can get downloaded accidentally, or as Jo mentioned, it could be that there is nothing on there but a joke etc.

Good luck.

Scott.
