I'm wanting to put myself on Birth Control, and I'm not sure where to go to do that. I know I have to go to a health clinic but I don't know which one to go to? I'm really afraid to go on it, but I think that would be best for me because If i got pregnant it would ruin my life right now and I can't go to my parents because they would freak out on me. Does anyone have any suggestions to help me? Does BC cost anything? I don't really know what I should do, and I don't really have anyone to talk to about it...

If you have a family doctor make an appointment there. If not you can usually go to any health clinic. A good idea is it reseach this, look in the phone book for health centers around you and call to make an appointment. You will more than likely have to get a pap test done first and a short physical just so the doctor can check for anything that could be wrong, but it may depend on the doctor.

I'm just curious, why are you so afraid to go on birth control? As well, why would becoming pregnate be such an issue. I understand many women, myself included, do not want a child at the moment, but you need to understand that it COULD happen.

Lastly, before you even make the appointment if I were you I'd do some research online about birth control. Look at the different types, brands, options, etc. That may make you feel more comfortable when you go to the doctor.

If you have health plan coverage then you may not have to pay for them, or just a slight charge. I am currently on my parents health plan so I get my pills for free, however, I don't know how it works where you live. Your doctor may be able to give you a few months of samples for free, depends on what option you choose for birth control. Sometimes some clinics offer free condoms, that could be a start.

Hope that helps.

Brookie, I do not mean to disagree but you asked why having a child was such an issue! Well. because it changes your life permanently and forever. For the present and the future. It is a lifetime change!

You have to be in a good relationship or marriage and both should be ready to raise a baby for 20 plus years.

So using birth control, two or three forms of it at once, is important, very important. If you are not ready for that totally life changing event.

I understand that having a child changes your life forever, but thats the chance you take when you have sex.

Something could ALWAYS go wrong and you have to be ready for it. If someone can not deal with the fact that they may end up with a child (even though they are being mature and responsible enough to use birth control) and it would be SUCH an inconvinence in their life, maybe they should wait until their life is settle a little more before having sex.

As the more birth control you use decreases the chances of you getting pregnate, you are still having sex, so theres always the chance of pregnancy.

At the moment I do not want a child, but it wouldn't be a huge issue or the end of the world if it happened. I know it would change my life, yet it would be my doing and I would need to take responsibility for having sex.

I hope that clears things up.

True so true. I see what you are saying. That abstinence is the only sure thing.

No one is stopping anybody from using two forms of BC at once. "The pill and condoms" is a good combination. Or the "pill and diaphram". Or the "depo shot and the condoms".~~~~~~~~~ Two two two forms are better than one`~~~~~~
