I may know the answer, but it doesn't hurt to ask...

If you get your period a few days after having sex, thats sort of like a built in pregnancy test reading negative.....right?

Wrong! As Tish said, some women continue to have periods even after they're pregnant.

You are probably NOT pregnant. If you don't want to get pregnant, then you should us some sort of birth control. If you're having unprotected sex, you'll eventually get pregnant.

I knew a woman in highschool who claimed to have had a period all the way up to delivery. Claimed now, as I had no real way to confirm that. But from what I have heard it is not that uncommon. Go get a test anyway if you are that concerned about it.

As the others pointed out, that's wrong. Having a period means nothing.

My DIL told me about a fellow sailor giving birth on their ship after having regular periods every month for 9 mos. She gained maybe 10lbs. during her pregnancy so even THAT isn't a good indicator of an impending birth.

And this happens much more than you think. The ONLY way to know for sure that you "dodged the bullet" is a blood test.
