My local library has a small selection of books about sex. So far, I have checked out the famous "The Joy of Sex," though I only got a few pages in to that one so far. I also recently got a few chapters into "The Big O", which I've found so far to be both superficial information and really good and helpful information.

So my question to everyone here is, have you ever read any of these types of books? If so, which ones were your favorite or would you suggest to read? Or do you just get your sex tips from porn and cosmo? lol. ok ok, time to be serious....

We have the Kama Sutra book. Quite good. Right now, I feel like throwing it at my husband though! Porn movies are also very good.

I just picked up The Kama Sutra Deck by Julianne Balmain. Though not in book form, it's a handy little item that will easily fit in your bedside table drawer or overnight bag for a weekend away. It's a deck of 50 cards divided into four sections: Seduction, Touch (foreplay), Congress (sex/intercourse) and Love. The back of each card has an excerpt from the Kama Sutra as well as a more detailed explanation of the tip, position, etc. The front of the cards have whimsically naughty illustrations. I think it's a good resource for anyone either new to sex or looking for a few new tips and tricks they may not have tried yet.

I'm much less interested in books about technique, positions, etc. and more intrigued by those that tackle the psychology of sex.

My favorite to date, is "The New Male Sexuality" by Dr. Bernie Zilbergeld. I've found it very helpful in understanding the male point of view and why men view sex so differently than women. It's been a real eye opener for both my DH and myself.

I really liked a book called The Erotic Mind. It's not about different positions, rather it delves into understanding your own and your mates optimal sexual experiences. It has no pictures, but is a relatively easy and interesting read.

Anywhere you can get an idea to try can be good as long as no one gets hurt... But as far as books go, I like Anne Hooper & Lou Paget as authors. Their material is well presented & thoughtful.
