Hi everyone

I was just wondering if anyone had some tips on how to have sex in water?? It seems a staple of romantic movies etc but I've found it's really hard to manage, especially since lubrication gets washed away

It is probably not a good idea to have sex under water because the hydraulic pressure created by thrusting into the vagina forces water through the cervical os into the uterus. According to Sue Johanson "Some researchers believe that this may cause Pelvic Inflammatory disease; others think it might cause endometriosis." I have heard in the past that there is a risk of death from a toxic-shock sort of effect but in my quick googling I didn't find anything. Apparently though the likelyhood of actually injuring yourself is probably low but understudied.

If you're not relying on condoms, try an oil based or maybe silicone based lubricant so that it doesn't get washed away.

A thought I just had.... maybe anal sex underwater is safer. I can't say for sure, but I bet it is. A bit of lakewater forced into the rectum can't be that harmfull, otherwise every summer inner tube rider would be victims of horific illnesses. Seawater on the other hand would probably cause some osmolartiy issues in the rectum though, I and would be very wary of chlorinated water. Sue suggests oral sex. Of course the whole breathing thing might complicate matters. I found a site where women divers were arguing about which diaphragm best protects the cervical os while having underwater sex. Aparently divers do this, I even saw a video of it. Who knew? I want to try it now though, but I don't think I will until I get more information about the risks.

That's the thing about movies......they're movies, not reality. Just like sexy bedroom scenes.....where the heroine's hair and makeup never get messed up.

You've found out the main problem with underwater sex, the lubrication gets washed away. I would imagine that some water could cause infections, too. There's really no way of fixing it......it's just some writer's fantasy, and doesn't work very well in the real world.

Sex underwater is highly over-rated. At least to me. I've tried it many times and every time was dissapointing. It's a great, fun way to start out though! Swimming nude is a huge turn. Being in a jacuzzi nude with a guy or two is a lot of fun. But once the penetration begins, we get OUT of the water.

we also, had the same experience. It has always been a fantasy for dh. We've tried a couple of times and always ended up out of the water for intercourse. It seems that forplay in the water and intercourse out of the water is the way to go.
