waking up excited

I have noticed that my bf wakes up hard almost every morning. I have no problem with this, I am more than happy to take advantage on the situation. I was just wondering if it happens to all or most men, I have heard it does, and why it happens.

ctara,

A man's penis moves from erect to flacid many times during the night for a variety of reasons. Kind of nature's way of exercising things. It can be caused by erotic dreams that the sleeper usually doesn't remember (women have the same thing happen to them and many women will notice an inordinate amount of lubrication with no memory of the dream), but a morning erection is usually caused by the need to urinate. The body is temporarily "fooled" by the sensation and reacts by creating an erection.

Peace.

Scott.

Your b/f, and lots of men! It's called a morning erection, and it has NOTHING to do with being "excited".

Men also can and usually do have several erections during the night, called nocturnal erections. It happens during certain periods of sleep called REM (rapid eye movement).

Here's a short "blurb" about it from a search engine:

Some males wake up with an erection and some don't. Either way, both are completely normal. Studies have shown that men have several erections and arousal periods while in the dreaming phase of sleep called Rapid Eye Movement (REM). Women also experience an arousal response, but it is not marked as easily as an erection is. Also, males are known to have wet dreams (ejaculate) in their sleep and females are known to experience orgasms.

Why this happens in males and females is unknown. Many doctors believe that this may be the body's way of checking itself. For more information on your sexual health, ask your doctor.

I've also heard that sleeping on your back causes the wieght of your full bladder to rest on your prostate. This increases the chance of the "morning woody".

I have read conflicting information about the role of bladder fullness on 'morning wood'. One thing o point out, bladder fullness doesn't really lead to erections at any other time. Apperently testosterone is often highest in the morning, which might play a role.

"One thing o point out, bladder fullness doesn't really lead to erections at any other time". Many guys will disagree with you on that. Maybe its just because a full bladder focuses more attention down there but it definately can lead to an erection.

Also it seems that sleeping on your back does it more then any other position.

I do agree that testosterone is often highest in the morning but often the morning woody is not accompanied by any sexual excitement. Its just there.

it may need come with any sexual excitement, but we still do have sex almost every morning. though it may not have anything to do with the morning wood.

Thats the best way for a guy to wake up in the morning. I mean why waste a good erection. He's a lucky guy.

Well, hey, he's got to get rid of it somehow, why not that way??? The erection might not be from excitement, but it's there, and a little touch or a little kiss will bring the excitement level right up to the erection level, lol

There are probably two reasons it happens: One is that you are probably hot and he is turned on. His mind is free of other clutter and he is turned on. The other reason is that guys wake up with a little bit of a filled bladder. For whatever reason, that can cause an erection. Have you noticed him running to the restroom soon after he wakes up? Sometimes I've had to take my erection to the restroom and then come back. Then I lose the erection and I either forget about it or try to get it back.
