sex and periods

Can you get pregnant if you have unprotected sex on the last day of your period. I did it last night and now my period is still here. I'm really scared. My period should have been over yesterday. Plus, I only started taking birth control last month. I took my birth control this morning and I haven't stopped bleeding yet. Please help me.

My question to you is, were you supposed to take a pill when you took it yesterday? Was it the start of your new cycle? If you take the pills according to the instructions......and what your doctor told you, you can't get pregnant. Although your doctor probably told you that you should use protection during the first month, it's highly unlikely that you'd get pregnant.
If you take the pill correctly, that is EVERY day, at approximately the same time, the hormone supresses ovulation. If you don't ovulate, you can't get pregnant. Your period will stop when it's finished.
If you're on the pill, you're not having unprotected sex anyway, even during the placebo pills. It's not a *real* period, since you're not releasing eggs. You're fine. That old saying about being able to get pregnant while on your period isn't true for pill users.
