Are you staying home or dining out or going on vacation?, whats up? A movie? Will you introduce a new toy? Plan on getting any chocolates or flowers for your S.O. this year? Whats your plan of attack?

I'd let you know mine, but uh, Mrs. Para reads this message board quite often, LOL, so that won't work. ;D

DH and I don't do Valentines day. We both tend to view it as a load of commercialism. I'd much prefer a gift because DH wants to give it, rather than because commercials tell him to do it. Xmas and birthdays are enough when it comes to 'expected' gifts.

Besides, neither of us are romantic ;-)

Being cheap this year - we both spent quite a bit on Xmas so we're going simple and classically 'romantic' this year. It'll be flowers and dinner. We'll get dressed up and have a candle-lit dinner then head home where hopefully we'll get a bottle of wine on ice, open the patio bi-fold doors (it's a hot summer here at the moment), light some more candles, and I'll be able to strip her out of her dress and lingerie as we make love with the evening breeze to keep us cool.

Since it falls on Monday, we will probably stay home, unless DW wants to take the whole family out to dinner (where can you feed a family of 6 cheap We spend 20 bucks at MickieD's).

Interesting, nothing too fancy to report so far, huh? LOL!

Well, as I stated on my other board, there are actually certain times of the year that Mrs. Para & I actually to set aside as all out romantic simply because of how impossible our schedules can be so often.

Sometimes its our birthdays, sometimes its our anniversary. Of course, sometimes its good ol' Valentines Day, lol. Maybe someone can post on here and give us ideas too irresistible to not celebrate that day as a love day anyway, LOL!

Para, you'll have to stash my idea away till you have kids.

About once per year, we try to leave the kids with my folks for a weekend. We get a luxury hotel room and do all the things that we used to do before kids.

Stay in bed till 10.30am drinking cups of tea and reading the broadsheet news - uninterrupted. Have an afternoon nap - uninterrupted. Go out for dinner and not have to worry about finding a sitter. Stay out late knowing that you don't have to be awake at 7.30am. And of course, have sex in the daytime.

Mind you, we haven't been able to manage this over the past couple of years because we've been spending far too much on family ski holidays and family beach holidays

I will be in North Carolina ... she will be here ....

Oh well ... such is life.

I have to work on Valentine's Day from 5-12am. (I am an R.A. in an all girls' dorm.) So my S.O., Will, and I are spending the weekend together since we are both off from work. I know we are cooking together one night, but I am not sure. My present for him hasn't arrived yet even though I ordered it January 31!!! He has my present. So I am not happy that I won't have him anything. I sad... but I really don't know what we are doing. This is Valentine's day #2 for us so...

I highly recommend the movie "The Notebook" for those diehard romantics out there. It's a sweet love story....perfect for Valentine's Day.

Cheers all and happy valentines!

Bellina here, well my sweetheart P. is finally getting his first holiday off from a new hotel position/in a posh continental restaurant! So I'll prepare a nice dinner, with his mozzarella caprese, italian cheese, tomatoes, basil, favorite entrees(tortellini w/truffles,pinkcreme sauce),chicken scallopine(artichokes, peas, mushrooms, zucchini in lt.butter/wine sauce),scrumptious creme brulee with chocolate/strawberries,and Peach Bellini(champagne, with Peach Nectar-from Venice, harrys bar),candlelight,scented-type,nice dinner music(Harry Connick,Sinatra,Englebert,Celine,Bocelli, etc),ambiance, romance and leave the rest to your imaginations..Our mutual interests in cooking, music, aromatherapies and a quiet evening preferred over fancy/crowded restaurants..Especially since P.does this for a living, allows more relaxed and intimate settings..Best wishes to anyone who loves this cupid's holiday,or any special day that stirs romance, and special memories in ones relationships..Bellina..
