Who gave you "The Talk" when you were younger? What exactly did they say? My mom gave me the talk by handing me a book and saying not to show it to any of my friends. I'm just curious how other people were told about the facts of life.

Never had the talk, a talk, or any talks.

After all the girls were shown a film about menstruation in 4th grade, my mother used the opportunity to ask me if I had any questions about sex. I asked the basic ones and she answered them. My Dad basically said "don't do it and you won't have to worry about anything you just learned!" LOL!

I remember a booklet called "Growing up and Liking it".....put out by the Kotex company. It wasn't about sex, it was about when your period starts. My Mom gave me that book. We learned about "reproduction" in High School biology.

What little sex I knew about was learned from my girlfriends (none of them knew any more than I did!) I guess I have to say I learned by doing! Unfortunately, my new husband didn't know much more than I did, and his ego made him THINK he was the "greatest"...and he kept telling me that. What did I know? I only found out 20 years later, after I was divorced, that not only was he not the "greatest", he was about the worst, lol In those days, there weren't even books on the subject, except pornographic ones. Eventually in the 70's a few decent books for laymen came out, and between those and a few good partners, I FINALLY got good at it in my 40's. Better late than never.

I am the youngest child in our family, so I had learned all about it from my elder sister and brother long before my mother took me on one side to tell me. Elaine
