Sex during Auntie Flow's visit

Okay, really weird question here. My husband & I have absolutely NO problem with having sex while I'm on my period. The only problem....my husband is under the impression that if he ejaculates inside of me during my flow, I can still get pregnant. I am under the impression that it is almost impossible to become pregnant at this time. Who is right? Is there a time of the month where we can have sex without protection? We spent a few years with me on birth control, & my libido hit the floor....so we "try" to use condoms now, but have found out that by being risque & not using condoms it's even more of a turn on. Help us out!!

Your hubby is right!!!
Sorry, but you're incorrect. Our cycles can be and are affected by emotion, stress, fatigue, diet, and about a million other factors in our daily lives and those factors can change daily, so we can't be certain that ovulation will take place at the same time month to month.
There is no truly "safe" time to have unprotected sex because of that reason alone. But if that wasn't enough, we can ovulate more than once a month as well.
And semen can survive in the vagina for up to 72 hours. So even if you weren't ovulating when you had intercourse, you might be in 72 hours and could conceive!
It's just not ever wise to take such a risk if you don't want to get pregnant.

I usually lurk here but I wanted to post on this thread.
Actually it's safe for a good part of the month. Trouble is it varies from woman to woman and it requires a fair amount of commitment to figure out and keep track of when your safe times are. My DW and I have used Natural Family Planning (NFP) of birth control for the past 6yrs and have it has never resulted in pregnancy. We use it because DW's sex drive also takes a dive on BCPs (no sense spending money on birth control if you aren't having any sex-yes it's that bad) and I cannot use products with spermacide. DW takes her temp everyday, keeps track of her cervical mucous and the position of her cervix. Doing this allows you to keep figure out when your fertile period is and avoid having sex then. Like I said it's fairly involved and I really give DW credit for doing this for us. We cannot have sex (or at least intercourse-there are plenty of other options ;)) during DW's period and for about 7days around her fertile period. You can also use the Fertility Awareness Method (FAM) which involves using condoms or another form of BC during the fertile period.
Sperm can live up to 5 days inside a woman's body, but only if conditions are good (IE she is within her fertile period). Otherwise they live a very short time. FTR during a period is not considered a *safe time* because there is no way to keep track of cervical mucous when a woman is bleeding. I think most people assume that conception cannot happen during that time because alot of women ovulate on or about day 14 of their cycle, but that's not guarenteed.
For more information you could do a search on NFP, symptothermal method or FAM.
