How do you overcome your embarassment of going into a toy store with other adults in there also buying toys?

We'd buy on-line but we don't have a credit card or a debit card. We refuse on both accounts because we're each known to get carried away from time to time and not pay attention to what we're doing. Plus, we're trying to repair our credit. A credit card would be just one more bill. The toy store we've chosen to go to, he took me to on my birthday because I'd never been to one. We liked it that much we opted to go back. And we did. And we bought our vibrator there. Now, each one of us takes turn chickening out. He always uses the excuse, "there are too many people there." Mine is, "Oh, I don't feel well." We're chickens.

Jennie, adam and eve sends you catalogs and you can send in a check. They also have an online store, so you can browse online and use your order form to pay. You may even be able to pay by check over the phone if you call the 800 number. You can request a free catalog from thier website. It's like anything else though, do it a few times then it's old news. Not to make it worse, but guys *will* look at you. I think it is more the curiosity factor, they are just interested in what women like. Especially in the adult movie section, I always get guys trying to see what I'm looking at. I guess I just don't care :D

Very easily. Ignore them. That's what they're doing to you as well. Many of them are just as nervous.

That being said, I'd go with someone your first time (preferably a male) if you don't know the place.

Adult stores are for adults. Anyone in them is an adult, and they're all there for the same reason......to find adult toys or materials. Why should you be embarassed to do the same thing they're doing?

Think about it: it's about as anonymous (and modest) as posting about your sex life on an internet messageboard. Everyone in the shop is there to do the exact same thing you are, so there is no need to fear judgement (except from yourself).

I actually had my busi. suit on when I went to get that secret gift for Mrs. Para late last year at the adult store we have closer toward town.

I can't explain it, but I think everyone knew that I was a very serious customer who was frustrated with the selection, and they knew I was trying to surprise her. I wasn't afraid to ask questions or anything, even what the reviews were.

Here's what I think made the difference though, I made it aware that I was trying to surprise my wife as opposed to shopping for myself.

Perhaps it'd be that much easier for us if our S.O. was with us unless its a surprise. Often seems to help by what I've heard/read. For me, time was so short that I walked in executive style without a chance to go home and change first. I came in with a demand and requested some help and before I knew it they acted as if I was going to fire them! LOL!!! They were more nervous than "I" was! ;D

Anyway, my two cents for free.

A) Cover story, ask and talk out loud about needing a gag gift for a bachelorette party

B) If your embarrassed anyway, then make it outrageous and have fun. Speak up and ask others what there favorite toy is and see how embarrassed THEY get

C) After 20 mins not finding what you want, do what my wife and I did, swallow your modesty and tell the clerk what you are looking for. In our case, we wanted to try anal, it was something neither of us had done in previous relationships so it was our "virginity" together. But being a true manly man, I told her I didnt want her to do anything I would do first. SO we flat out told the clerk we were looking for a strap on for her to wear and do me anally, but everything on the shelves was terrifyingly large. He knew just what we wanted and got us a modest 5 1/2 incher. If embarrassment had kept us from speaking up wed still be anal virgins.

BTW, I enjoyed it more than my wife, one long prolonged orgasm, whew
