My kids are older now but never went into any of our stuff. They always knew that they were not to go into any of our things and also not to enter our bedroom when the door was closed unless invited. It worked out very well for us.
We keep a couple of vibes and some lube in the nightstand drawer, but the vast majority of our toy collection (and all the rope and kinky stuff) is kept in a locked trunk in our bedroom.
It wouldn't really bother me if one of my kids stumbled on a vibe or some such, but I don't really want to have to pay for the therapy bills if one of them was to find some of the other things in that trunk (Mom and Dad are into WHAT?!?!?!).
Anything more than birth control pills in my mother's drawers (no pun intended) (I shall so burn in hell for that statement) would have left me traumatized and would've maybe landed me in a convent for the rest of my life.
When I was the same age my DS is now, I was definitely 'borrowing' porn from my father's nightstand, so I know better than relying on them staying out of our room/stuff.
Ours are hidden in a few places throughout the bedroom. I have a travel bag in my closet that holds some, some hang in my jewelry box (the standing type of box), and our wand lives under our headboard. I have some DVDs in my dresser, between layers of clothing.
The only think in our nightstand is some lube and condoms. I figure if he goes looking for condoms, I want him to find them, LOL.
We also have the rule that they aren't to be in our room without permission. That doesn't always work -- like if they're snooping for gifts or something, but during holiday seasons, I hide things a little better.
