I'm a 43 y/o male, I`m a smoker and social drinker, I'm not in the best shape in the world...but not a slob by no means..... I`ve noticed in the last yr that the amount of sperm that I produce is gone down from yrs past. Orgasms are still as intense as they were, just amount of sperm is down. I do masturbate a lot, can this effect it or is it just part of getting older ??

I am not a man but I would say probaly age has a factor but I know that when dh ejaculates alot, he produces less. Make sure you are hydrated and hold back a few days and see if that makes a difference. I am not sure if the amount is that important unless you are feeling your orgasms being affected or you are trying to conceive.

Also, I would not be surprised if smoking and other no so great for you habits had an effect as well.

As Liv suggested, try cutting back on the frequency just a bit, and make sure you're drinking plenty of fluids. I'm 46, and have also noticed that the quantity is down a little recently, but if I abstain for a couple of days I can still shoot halfway across the room like a horny teenager.

It's semen, not sperm.

Welcome to the board, bdamn65.

The amount can lessen with age, but the intensity of shooting can also change. It could be a combination of the two that you're seeing. The more often you ejaculate, the less you will have also. I think the comments about cutting back for a few days and seeing if that makes a difference is something you could try, although, if you are still enjoying your orgasms, I don't really see a need for you to increase the quantity.

The average male, at all ages ejaculates between 4 to 5mls of semen. When we request that a patient collect a semen specimen, we tell them not to have an ejaculation for about three to four days. That's how long it takes for
