Hi to everyone!
I discovered this board on a not too busy day at work a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, due to the magic of firewalls, I can't join in on any conversations (go figure!) so I'll log on at night from home as often as I can.
I started WW on September 29, 2005 with the At Work Program (love it). Weigh-in day is Thursday lunch. Each session last 12 weeks. We took a summer break but lucky for me, my group leader also has a traditional group on Thursdays right after work in my neighbourhood so I signed up for the summer and am still continuing until our AWP picks up again in September.
Starting weight: 174.2 lbs.
Current weight: 135.2 lbs.
Goal: 134 lbs.
Yup. ONE POUND AWAY!
I did not make exercise part of my weight loss journey. I had lost weight twice before by watching what I ate and doing tons of exercise but as soon as I slacked-off on exercising, the weight came back on with a vengeance. This time, I wanted to lose the weight by following a safe and healthy eating plan and eventually add exercise. Well, the time has come. Just this morning, I made an appointment at Curves and will be signing up on August 28th.
I've also been following the Wendi Plan since April. I've had incredible success with it. I have not hit one plateau. I eat my 20 points per day plus every single one of my 35 flex points. My average weekly loss is between 0.6 to 2 lbs. I journal absolutely everything. I distribute my points throughout the week like this: Thursday 24; Friday and Sunday 26; Saturday 33; Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 22. This totals 175 points per week, i.e. 20 per day plus 35. It works for me! Now that I'm approaching my 6-week stabilization period (hopefully next Thursday), I will increase my points accordingly and my Curves sessions will certainly help.
I'm just so happy to have found this board. I've been reading all of the messages and responses daily and couldn't wait to join in.

That's so exciting!

Wow, you're so close to your goal.
Thanks to everyone for your encouraging responses.
As luck would have it, our home computer died Sunday morning (DH is NOT a happy camper) and will be in the repair shop till the end of the week but I just figured out that if I use my home e-mail address at work, it works (duh)!!!
I'm so close to my goal, I can taste it! My goal is 40 lbs., which I hope to attain this week; however my birthday (45th - aarrgh!) falls on September 1st, just one more week away. I told my group leader that on that day I will begin my 6-week stabilization.
My special treat(s) for reaching my goal? First of all, joining Curves and getting some exercise in. Secondly I'm due for a hair makeover big time. I already have a complete new summer wardrobe, which I intend to fit into next summer ... and now with fall and winter approaching, I don't think the white capri pants will do. So shopping it is!
Now if I can only figure out how to post before and afer pics.

Ya another Canadian!! welcome to the board.
Hi Nadine,
Nice to hear from you too, aye??? I didn't realize there we so few Canadians on the board.
Last night was my weigh-in. Lost 0.6 lbs. I'm happy with that. I have 0.4 lbs. left to reach my goal. Starting weight 174.2 and am now at 134.6. Losing 39.6 lbs. took me 48 weeks. All worth it. I also realize that losing the weight is the easy part. It's safe and controlled. Maintaining it is the scary part. I've done WW twice before (always the same 40-60 lbs. up and down, up and down ... you get idea I'm sure) but I never reached a "goal weight" nor done stabilization and maintenance.
This Thursday will be celebration time! Friday is my 45th birthday and DH is taking me to our favourite restaurant for dinner. He just loves taking me there because we always order suf & turf and he gets half my plate! I scrounge around in his plate for the steamed veggies and he poaches off my plate for the garlic butter and breaded shrimp. Half the filet mignon is mine, and yes, the other half goes to you-know-who. The guy can eat rocks and not gain an ounce. Life ain't fair sometimes ;)
Our 2-week vacation started today at 5:00 p.m. Woo-hoo! Plans you ask? Tomorrow I have my whole family coming for a swim-slash-birthday celebration: mine (September 1st), my older brother's (August 31st) and my niece's (August 17th) - all around the same dates so why not party together? We'll be 16 for dinner. Lots of WW food on hand, I make sure of that.
I also plan to drive down to Plattsburg, NY, just across the border to pick up lots of WW stuff we just can't get here. Is it just me or is it not about time we get more than just WW bread in Canada??? I love the english muffins (1 pt. each), bagels (2 pts. each), I also pick up Lays fat-free chips. The whole bag is 6 pts. I weigh 1 oz. portions so a bag lasts me a very long time. I know they're made with Olestra (which is banned in Canada) but knowing that my daily food intake is healthy and nutritious, sneaking in a little junk food every now and then is a special treat I look forward to.
I'm joining Curves on Monday. Looking forward to firming up too. Now that the weight is gone, it's time to get this body in shape!
I've gone from a size 16 to a 6 or 8 depending on the cut. I haven't weighed 134 since about the 5th grade. No kidding. My entire life, I've been between a size 10 (for about a week) up to a size 18. Well, it's never too late. This year cost me a fortune in clothes. Summer clothes, that is. And now fall is right around the corner and I still have to fill my closet with cold-weather clothes. I'm a secretary in a law firm so I can't just go in jeans. Gotta dress up all girlie like all the time LOL. But I have to say, shopping has never been so much fun. I'm a huge bargain hunter. Never buy anything at whole price. You know what I discovered this summer? By the time stuff goes on sale, all that's left are size 0s and 14s!
Some quick personal info: DH and I have been married just over a year. We met 2-1/2 years ago at my sister's Xmas party. She works at Global Television. Denis is a maintenance technician (repairs camera, TVs at the studio plus handles the computer stuff too). We met November 22, 2003. By Xmas 2003, he moved in with me. April 10th, 2004 we moved into our new house. January 8, 2005 he proposed and we were married April 7th, 2005 at Sandals in Jamaica. It was just the two of us. It was the most beautiful and romantic day of our lives. It's a second marriage for both of us so we didn't care about having a big wedding. Both our parents were a little disappointed (a) because Denis' first marriage was when he was living in Germany so his parents weren't there (b) it couldn't be in a church because of the divorces and (c) they couldn't all come down with us. But, who wants their mom and dad on their honeymoon, I ask you!!! LOL. My parents hosted a lovely party for us when we got back. It was small and intimate and just perfect. So DH met me at 180 lbs., fell in love with me just the way I was. He can't get over the change in me, he's very happy!
Was it you who posted the sex question? A few weeks ago, DH asks me: "Gee, what happened to your ". I answered: "Simple, they're in the pantry and fridge. Want me to get them back for you? Just give me a couple of weeks!" Did we ever laugh over that one! And in answer to the question: 3-6 times a week. OK, we have no kids and are still in the honeymoon phase.
What part of Canada are you from? I'm in Montreal. I'd love to post my before and after pics but am not too familiar with this site. I scanned the pics and they're in PDF format. I've seen other members attach website articles, PDFs, etc. but for the life of me, I can't figure out how.
As you can probably tell by now, I could go on forever but I'll call it a night at this and wish you a very good week. Wendie Plan is just fantastic. It's what makes WW easy for me.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Anne Marie
LOL Anne Marie your to funny!!!
Yes it was me who posted the sex question.
Hey Nadine,
My sister's boyfriend is from Thunder Bay. He's of Portuguese descent. Tony Furtado. Know him? I know, I'm too funny. Like we're supposed to know every living soul in our city!!! I'm of Italian descent and I remember the last time I was in Italy, people come right up to you and say: "I have a cousin in Vancouver, Tony Whatever. You know him? Can you drop off this letter at his place for me; save me a stamp." LOL I just pulled the same thing on you!
OK just let me congratulate you on your incredible loss so far. So much so fast! I'm almost jealous! But you know what? Having lost the weight really slowly gave my body the chance to adjust to the changes without too much damage. The only thing that really bothers me is that my stomach is soft so when I sit, I still get that roll between my waist and bra line. It just makes me feel like I haven't done anything when I know 40 lbs. is a lot. Actually standing up I'm ok ... and lying on my back? Man, my ribs and hip bones stick out to there! But please let us not discuss bending over ... I look like a cat who's had 4 litters. Yuk ;)) LOL
So my family is on the way. They'll be here by 4:00 instead of 2:00. It's a little too nippy for a swim. As I mentioned above, I'm from a big Italian family. Lots of fooooood! It's all about food. No food, no life! And wouldn't you know it' I'm the only one in the family with a weight problem. My sister is 5 years younger than I am and is 5'3" (I'm 5'5") and for as long as I can remember, she'd get on the scale and scream: "OMG, I'm 128 lbs.! Gotta get back down to 125" and within 2 weeks she'd be there. Two kids later, she can still wear the jeans she wore in high school. My brothers are over 6' each and nice and slim; even the older one who'll be 49 next week. My dad's just fine the way he is. My mother has always been a little heavier than she should be but then again, she's even more addicted to food that I am; besides she does all cooking all the time. Taste here, taste there, yada yada yada, next thing you know, you're 40 lbs. overweight. Sigh.
So, I'm off to finish getting things ready for tonight.
I just can't get a pic posted but here's my home e-mail address:

Send me an e-mail and I'll send you my before and after pictures. The transformation is incredible!
And by the way, thanks for replying to my original posts. Makes me feel like part of the gang now.
Take care!
Anne Marie
