New to WW and discouraged

I had joined WW years ago but did not continue to go. I have the Flex/Core book and the points ruler so I decided to start on my own. Some years ago I lost 25 pounds on Atkins but have regained that weight plus! I have been telling myself I would do something about the weight and am ready to start. Saw Bob Greene on Oprah and his plan seemed so easy but I needed to count points to see how much I was really eating. Last week I journaled and stayed within my points range plus walked 20 min/3days the week. I did not lose 1 pound and even gained 1 pound over the weekend. I am discouraged and dismayed. I am 41 and feel old, fat and disgusting. I currently weigh 162 and would like to weigh 135.
Help, advice, encouragement needed here! Has anyone not lost and possibly gained the first week?

Hi there and welcome! First and foremost you are going to love this board all the ladies and the support is tremendous!
Secondly dont stress out if you dont lose at first. Just focus on following the plan flex or core whichever works best for you. Eat all of your points that you are allowed each day and remember no matter which plan you follow you are allowed 35 additional points per week. In the beinning of my journey my weight loss slowed down because I wasnt journaling or eating all of my points. Drink lots of water, dehydration slows weight loss, and exercise even if its just walking a few blocks, something is better than nothing.
hth, stick with it, it work and WW is not just a diet it is a way of life!

First off, you are not "fat and disgusting" and you need to stop telling yourself that!

Thank you for all of your replies so soon. I just went to gyno this week and I was suspecting I was perimenopausal. He says no but I have read the websites and I have seen the signs...I am tired, cranky, moody, etc etc. He recommended exercise every day. I know this will help because when I was doing Atkins I walked and felt great (why did I ever get away from that?)
I have 3 kids: ages 15, 11 and 9. They keep me on the go. I just quit smoking in October of 06....my first step toward a healthier me. I did gain 6 pounds since then. I was maintaining a weight of 157 and a size 10. Right out of HS I weighed about 135. I would like to see at least 145 at this point in my life.
I have not been to wW for several years so I did not realize there was not a "range" of points. 22 sounds do-able. I just had lunch and I did measure my serving size. I was afraid I was over-estimating a serving size.
I used the Atkins message board at iVillage when I lost weight before and found it very helpful.
I will hang in there and try to increase my activity level this week and see what happens. Thanks so much!
Hello, I
Before and Still Going Pic LOL
Congrats on quitting smoking!
What software or website do you use to put those cool pictures and things on your posts?
Thanks for the encouragement. Walked a mile last night on the treadmill and 1/2 mile today here at work. I teach at a middle school so 6 laps around the hallways is 1 mile. My attitude is looking up even though I still haven't lost any weight. May have to cut some of the carbs.
