New to WW and discouraged

I had joined WW years ago but did not continue to go. I have the Flex/Core book and the points ruler so I decided to start on my own. Some years ago I lost 25 pounds on Atkins but have regained that weight plus! I have been telling myself I would do something about the weight and am ready to start. Saw Bob Greene on Oprah and his plan seemed so easy but I needed to count points to see how much I was really eating. Last week I journaled and stayed within my points range plus walked 20 min/3days the week. I did not lose 1 pound and even gained 1 pound over the weekend. I am discouraged and dismayed. I am 41 and feel old, fat and disgusting. I currently weigh 162 and would like to weigh 135.

Help, advice, encouragement needed here! Has anyone not lost and possibly gained the first week?

hang in there...it so works...i think it just takes time for our bodies to get used to all the change...are you staying within your points even on the weekend that you were talking about...and exercise and water...dont get discouraged and dont quit...you can so do this...

Hi. I have 3 kids and they are 15, 11 & 9. I also teach 6th grade special education so I am busy, busy. Feeling great today because I am down to 159 from a starting weight of 162. Finally losing this week. I have been walking 20 min at least every other day and working out with resistance bands (slowly but surely). In the old WW, you could add 2 points to your daily allowance if you worked out for 20 min. Is that still the case with the new WW plan? I haven't but just wondering if working out would give me a little wiggle room.

Yes you can earn activity points to give you some wiggle room.
