Mid-December I got the WW books (complete food companion and dining out companion) and started counting points. I lost about 7lbs in 2 1/2 weeks. Great! I'd like to lose about 23 more. Anyway, I'm now thinking of training for a 1/2 marathon and from what I'm reading about nutrition and training I'm not sure how I can follow WW, continue to lose weight, and still have the energy I need to run. Everything I've read about running and eating says to get 65% of your calories from complex carbs, 15% from protein and 10-20% from fats. Will that work with WW? Isn't that a few too many carbs? I don't want to have to pay a nutritionist! lol I need to be able to "fuel" my body, though. I did a little experiment last week with karate (my kids and I go 2-3 times a week). One night I'd eaten like I normally do and on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the best I had about a 6 for energy for the 1 hour class. The next class, I didn't drink a lot of water, didn't eat well and my energy was at about a 3! The third night I drank lots of water, had a high carb/protein snack about 1.5 hours before class and my energy that night was probably a 9. Of course then I got a sinus infection and haven't been able to do half the stuff for fear of my face exploding! lol
So what do you all think? Can I train, fuel my body for running and still do WW?

Welcome to the board and congrats on your weight loss to date!!
Thanx for the welcome, Nicole! Your little man is a cutie! I'm a family child care provider so I get to enjoy the little ones. My boys are 12 and 14 now. WOW! My baby's going to be a teenager this year!

Hi, Kristen! I don't eat a lot of fast food. Don't get out during the day much and we don't really do that on weekends, so it just doesn't happen. Sometimes, but not often. I just have to watch all the junk dh brings into the house! Since he goes grocery shopping with me (started about a year ago--sort of our weekly "date" lol) there seems to be a lot more chips, candy, ice cream, etc. He says he'd like to lose about 20lbs, but he could never do WW. He likes to eat too much! lol He's really not that overweight. He's about 5'9" and weighs about 185ish. Not too bad!
What are AP's?

Good news with the fast food!
Welcome Cathy!
Okay, how do you figure out the APs? Like I said, I've got the WW books, but I didn't "join" and am not going to meetings or anything. I really don't have time and don't want to spend the extra money when I know I'd probably never get there! I really don't want to eat all my extra points, because I do want to loose weight, but I'll probably have to eat some to have the energy I need.

Amy, we're just east of the Springs, but dh works up there probably very close to you. It's COLD today, isn't it?!? We were below 0 when I got up this morning. BBBBRRRRrrrr!!!!! lol
I try to stay away from using my flex points. I like knowing they're there, but don't like using them. Make sense? Eventually I will learn how many points I can eat a day and still loose weight. I did low carb a few years ago and lost about 20lbs and my body could actually tolerate about 50-70 carbs a day and still loose weight. It drove other people nuts! (I was doing the Curve's diet at the time) Right now I'm taking a break and just maintaining. I've come to the conclusion that I really like to eat! So I guess I just have to be more active. Maybe those AP's will come in handy! lol
