What's a girl to do?

She has the worst taste in men, really...she does. She finally met a great one. Big beautiful blue eyes. Infectious smile. Sweet, caring, very attentive. Problem is he already dating a girl she knows. So they play the friend thing. Emails back and forth about this or that. Text messages, the occasional phone call. Once he wrote to her about fate. "Do you believe in fate?" he asked. "I do. I like just leaving it up to the gods to decide and do whatever I want till they send me a gift like they did with...... I think that everything we do, everyone we meet all leads to what was meant for us. I use that theory every time something good or bad happens to me and try to figure out what I am to learn from it" They hung out the other night in a group. She had gone out with one of her girl friends, left her car at her girl friend's place. At the end of the night he offered to take her home. He drove her to her car and followed her back to her place. She had something to give him, something she picked up for him while shopping. He came up to get it. They talked for a bit but she felt uncomfortable being alone with him (because of the other girl, not because she was afraid of him or anything) Later after he'd gone she got a few text messages from him. Among them he said: "If only we had met under different circumstances. You are totally someone I would really love to date....kinda a f****d up thing to say though" Then he asked her if she remembered when he asked her if she believed in fate....of course she fell asleep (it was 3 am on a weeknight after all) so that conversation was never completed. The following night he came to meet her in Hoboken with her friends. He took her home and he kissed her goodnight. Really kissed, for about 20 minutes or so... They talked for about an hour the following night after she had gotten home at 3 am. Yesterday he called her and left her a message on her cell. He wanted to let her know he was going to be at the other girl's place. This morning his car was still there, he had spent the night with her. She really wants to stay friends with this guy but the chemistry they share is frighteningly powerful. They seem to share a much deeper connection together than he does with the other girl. So now she's wondering what it's all about. Why did he mention the fate thing again? Does he thing the reason he met the other girl was so that he could meet her? So why did he spend the night with her last night? What does she say to him the next time they speak? Should she call him or wait for him to call her? And why does she care? She knows this could never work, but she still can't stop thinking about him. Why is is that we always want what we cannot have?
