Hi, Everyone -

Please -- do not respond to any disruptive post that you come across, or start more threads about them. It just increases the amount of visible disruption, and is that many more posts where it is OT for new members. It also gives the disrupters what they are seeking.

If you see bad posts, please report them but don't respond. Starting new threads on on-topic discussions is the best thing you can do! If there is a member whose posts are disruptive, not supportive, not in the spirit of the board: ignore them. Put them on your ignore list by going into your profile (you'll find the link at the top of the board and you need to be logged in). Click on "update your profile". The last tab is labeled "Friends" and there you will find the "friends" and "ignore" lists. You can add or delete members on your ignore list there.

You may also report disruptive posts by clicking on the report a violation link which you can find when you click on a post and look to the right hand side of the post. When you are reporting a violation, don't discuss it. Just report the violation and move on. Let the Moderators handle the disruptive posts while you get back to the business of supporting the members.

If you are unsure about our Terms of Service or rules of play on message boards please review them now by visiting these links: http://www.ivillage.com/help/tos.html and http://www.ivillage.com/ivillage/boards/about/articles/0,,261673_273799-1,00.html

If you have questions regarding disruptive posting or Terms of Service, please address the Relationships Moderators at relationshipscm@mail.ivillage.com or by using the feedback form available by clicking feedback at the bottom of every page or by going to http://www.ivillage.com/help/feedback.html

**************

1) Ignore! - Go into your profile (you'll find the link at the top of the board and you need to be logged in). Click on "update your profile". The last tab is labeled "Friends" and there you will find the "friends" and "ignore" lists. You can add or delete members on your ignore list there.

2) report a problem post! - click on the "report a violation" button on any post and send in a request for us to review it.

3) Don't feed into it - any person deliberately causing trouble probably wants attention and s/he may enjoy watching the chaos they cause. If you respond, even if it's to point out the error of their ways, you are feeding into the problem and it will escalate. An attack, disruptive post or other problem can cause huge amounts of trouble if you let it. Ignore them, report them and carry on with your discussion; Treat them like an annoying little sibling "I can't see you, can't hear you, can't be bothered, ho hum" and they will hopefully go away. (We will also be monitoring, and will deal with situations according to the TOS.) Please remember - even if you are defending yourself against an "attack", if you violate the TOS in your response, your post will also be removed and you will be warned.

Thanks so much for your understanding.

Aurelia--

Obviously you've noticed the disruptive posts. The

members here do report posts that violate TOS and

there are plenty of us who use the 'ignore' button.

I don't understand why if people, especially a CM,

notices which posts are disruptive and notices they

are coming from the same individual, who is not trying

to even fake anyone out... why that poster can't just

be banned automatically. Obviously, there are posts

on here violating many TOS so why are they allowed to

stay on? I don't understand why IV doesn't do more to

moderate their boards. It's not our responsibility to

clean up the boards and we shouldn't have to have all

the mess clutter up the boards for people who do need

it and are supposed to be guaranteed a safe place by IV.

It seems to be a weak system. We're always asked to

merely ignore them as they continue to be allowed on here

to post.
