I'm new to this board, although I have been reading for awhile....

I am going to go to counseling. I have been married for 13 years. I thought it was a good marriage but I became unhappy for some reason. Started the A last July, it became physical in August. My AP is also married...unhappily he says. I thought I could compartmentalize. Have the A for "me time" and still be

ntheampm -

I have depression. I have been managing and battling this for over 6 years.

I can tell you unmanaged depression, whether due to a situation (that the depression goes away when situation is resolved-think loss of family member type) or clincal which needs help from a doctor, will mess with your moods.

For me, I become very sad, angry, low patience level, snapping at everything. I think everyone thinks poorly of me, and I feel very negative about myself.

These types of feelings can lead you to make decisions you may not have normally made, or you may have given those decisions a bit more time to be contemplated.

I know on my medication, I can function, I can get motivated, I have a much better outlook on things and I am not so angry and sad at everything.

If any of this seems similar to you, I would go see your doctor and talk to them about what your feeling. By law they cannot tell anyone ANYTHING you tell them (unless it is about physically harming yourself or another), so you have minimal risk in discovery.

"Have any of you tried counseling or you currently in counseling? Did depression make me have an A or did the A cause my depression."
"I have been married for 13 years. I thought it was a good marriage but I became unhappy for some reason."

Can you pinpoint an event that occured when you started becoming unhappy? Death in family, move, job change, family changes?

How have you been over the past

Caribou and BTD,

It's cool, you both are right. I appreciate the responses. I've been out of bed for the last two days. Sad to say though, it was hearing from my AP that helped me feel better. What does that say? (wouldn't dare tell him about my depression....very unsexy.....LOL)

Got a prescription for Prozac, have counseling session tomorrow. BTD you are right, I will ultimately have to be an adult and make a decision, because I don't think I can live like this. An A is not for the faint of heart or the chronically depressed.
