He cant tell me what he is thinking

My boyfriend and I moved in together about 4 months ago and it has been complete bliss, mostly. He is quiet and shy, yet loving and emotional in his own right. We respect each other and appreciate the little things in each other that we feel make us special. He is my own true love and I don't know what I would do without him.
But, sometimes his quiet nature frustrates me. When I get peeved at him about something, he just shuts down and leaves me alone because I think he doesn't know what to say and he deosn't want to argue. Meanwhile, I get more ticked as time goes on becasue I feel like he doesn't care that I am upset and that he is ignoring me. I feel like I have to come to him to resolve things because I just can't stand being left alone. I try to tell him that it hurts my feelings that he does this, but it seems to happen whether the argument is big or small. Granted, we don't argue much at all. But I need to talk things out when we fight, and I feel he doesn't know what to say. I can't tuck things away and forget about them. They fester into a huge sore that I will probably bring up again and the fight will ensue at a later date; thats why I need help with him so I can get closure!

Have you told him everything that you posted to us? He needs to know how his shutting down makes you feel.
