Hi Ellen!

Finished Murder in the Palais Royal last week and In the Shadow of Gotham, by Stefanie Pintoff. (I really liked this one!)

I'm now shifting gears a little from mystery to historical fiction. I picked up By Fire, By Water, by Mitchell James Kaplan. I read about 50 pages last night, and I'm hoping I can get more into it. So far it's been a little bit of a struggle.

This year is going by very quickly. Next thing you know, it'll be Christmas already!

Right now I'm reading The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. I'm really enjoying it, but I know that it's going to take me a long time to read it. Not because of its length, but because having just moved into a new home, there's a lot that needs to get done and right now the only time that I can really relax and read is at night in bed.

And yes, the year is flying by, but I will be glad when fall gets here. It's my favorite season and I'm tired of all the heat and humidity of summer.

I'm reading Frostbitten by Kelley Armstrong, the next book in her Women of the Otherworld series.

I finished Nefertit which I really enjoyed. I'm looking forward to her next two books. I've started Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson which so far is just okay. I've heard such good things about it so it just may be that I just don't enjoy YA books as much as I used to.

I finished Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson and it was just okay. I'm going to start The Brutal Telling tonight. I need a Louise Penny fix.

I really enjoyed the Historian when I read it a few years back. Definitely not a light read. I was very surprised to learn that it was about Vampires, of all things. Funny, though, it reads so much like historical fiction that I was starting to forget that there was actually no such things!
