Can money buy love?

I think I know the answer to this...it's no isn't it?

There is a woman at the gym I like and today she was telling me about the bad day she was having. It included, amongst other things, a small 'gem' falling out of her imitation cubic zirconia encrusted ring. It is a birthday ring so I imagine it has sentimental value but I was thinking of perhaps buying her another ring. Not an expensive one, maybe just enough to make her interested in me. I know this is a ridiculous idea but I was interested in hearing just how ridiculous it actually is.

Can a man buy his way to a woman's heart?

has she shown any interest in you?

The gesture itself might make her take notice, but I doubt that the money will matter as much as the thoughtfulness. But I would definitely not spend too much. If a man that I did not know well bought me an expensive ring, I would be a little weirded out. After a few dates, expensive jewelry is, however, encouraged. :)

>has she shown any interest in you?

Initially it was just "Hi/Bye" and friendly smiles. Now I seem to be able to have some sort of conversation with her, however mundane. She actually works at the gym so I suppose she is obliged to be friendly. Although it's not the ingrained "customer comes first" type of friendliness, it appears genuine.

You could always get her a cheesy ring from a gumball machine ; )

Why don't you go for broke and just ask her out? I'm sure she's already been mesmerized by your boyish charm and rugged good looks ...

yeah I'd have to agree... instead of making a gesture like that where she feels OBLIGATED to go out with you - ask her out first and see if there is even any interest and THEN on down the line you can get the ring! ;)

Unless you are just wanting to buy women jewelry without wanting a date in return... in that case - my ring size is 7! :)

It's REALLY ridiculous ;-)!

I think asking her out and then, if she accepts, bringing a very obviously cheap gumball or mood ring would be funny. But buying a real ring (even a relatively inexpensive one) for someone you've never even had a date with??? That would be scary to me, even if I kind of liked the guy.

awww I don't think it's "Ridiculous" - I think it's a sweet thought! Apparently when Hal likes someone he can be sweet! Our little shallow Hal is growing up! :p

Okay, I'm gonna admit something embarrassing.

Last month, I got an email from a guy online.

What is the best way to ask her out on a date?

How about, "Would you care to have dinner with me sometime?" I don't know about the other ladies but, I like the direct approach.
