Is being single a disease?

Grrrr...does this happen to anyone else? You meet a seemingly nice guy...things seem to be going well...he asks if you're seeing anyone. You proudly tell him no, thinking, yay! He's great, I'm great, this can happen! But he gets all weird and want to know why you're single. And this is always asked in a tone that let me know he expects the answer to be "I don't know, I was just asking my 10 kids the same thing the other day" or "I'm building myself a tidy little nest egg by drugging men and removing their organs to sell on the black market. The relationship kinda goes south after that." And of course, the guys asking this are also single. I'm not assuming anything's wrong with them! I mean, when I meet what appears to be a decent single guy and we're clicking, I'm more happy at my luck than trying to figure out what terrible relationship-destroying character flaws he has. I guess these guys would prefer me in a relationship and willing to cheat on my boyfriend with them, because then they'd know I'm worthy of a man. You know, except for the cheating thing. Oh, the horrible irony. I once had some jerk ask me who broke up with who in my last couple of relationships. WTF? Yes, because then you can figure out if I'm cool or not, because no one decent has ever been broken up with in the history of man, only hopeless losers.

Seriously, I (heart) being single.. I'm not sitting around waiting for the phone to ring. I can go out and flirt with cute boys guilt-free. I have time for friends, working out, meeting new people, trying new things, etc. I'm learning to like myself. I had a live-in boyfriend for years, and there are a million things I don't miss about that. I'm sure the ladies who have been there know what I'm saying. I don't think there is anything wrong with me, and I'm pretty happy. So the next time some jerk asks me why I'm single, maybe I'll say, "Because it's your lucky day!", or (if I'm feeling saucy) "I'm actually a dude." Or maybe I'll just write off the next moron who asks me this then and there. Some men are freaking clueless and tactless. And they seem to be the ones I'm attracting. THIS is why I'm single! Know what I'm saying?
