if a guy says he's seeing someone, what does he mean? why not say that girl he's seeing is his girlfriend? sorry i know this question is quite dumb but i was wondering what you ladies and/or men think.

Maybe "seeing someone" is that early stage where you're not officially bf/gf, but you're seriously interested in the person you've been seeing. So it's not totally illegit for him to grab a cup of joe w/you (b/c there's no official commitment yet) yet be unavailable (b/c he wants to try things out w/her). I like your username, btw :-)

I think that when a guy says that he is seeing someone that they are dating exclusively. They are only dating each other but they are not ready for the titles girlfriend and boyfriend. That is what I think it means, but you never know with men!

Seeing someone is another way of saying I'm dating someone right now but I'm open to dating someone else if the opportunity presents itself.

That's how I use that phrase. If I say that I am seeing someone it means that I enjoy their company enough to continue dating them but not enough to be exclusive or serious.

Interesting...to me, "seeing someone" is a step above "dating someone". I wouldn't use the "seeing someone" phrase unless we were exclusive.

I agree with Sheri. "seeing" is definitely a step up from "dating."
