In an ideal world the person who hit your car would stop and leave you a note with all his/her info so at they can pay for the damages but it is much too easy (and obviously cheaper) to continue driving. When I use to park my car outside I had numerous times when I would get my car damaged extensively and not once was a note left behind.

A girlfriend of mine was having breakfast week before last and the same thing happened to her. Her car got side swiped and the guy just took off. Luckily, she was dining at a rather popular spot where the line is usually wrapped around the building. When she came back out to her car someone approached her with the license tag number of the culprit who had hit her. I'm like you, I just can't believe the nerve of some people. She called the police and reported the incident but she hasn't heard back from them. They may never find him.

I'm so sorry this has happened to you! I hope you are able to get everything fixed at reasonable cost!

That is horrible! That's definitely more than just a couple of hundred dollars worth of damage! Is there any chance someone may have seen this happen??? What did the police have to say about it?

Just think of it that it could've been worse: you could've been in the car getting ready to leave or arriving, or just opening the door stepping out of it... I hate driving without a mirror and my just broke a few months back too except that in a different circumstance: the mirror -- just the glass part -- simply fell off while I was driving and crashed in the road, it just unglued from the holder. The worst part was since I still had the mirror thing there, I kept looking at it, but all I'd see was black plastic. Turns out that to buy just the glass costs more than replace the whole thing, so I replaced the whole thing with a new one.

I found this great site online that sold them cheaper even than the junk yard, for new mirrors too. It's www.usautoparts.com, however I bought my mirror for $47 including shipping, and the same mirror is $60 now (w/o shipping), but that's still cheaper than the junk yard (wanted to charge me $100+ since it was a powered mirror). Good luck!

That's terrible - some people are so inconsiderate. Really makes me want to believe in karma.
