Congratulations to cl-shywon!
Name: Kelli
Communities: (boards and chats you host) The Single Life and Teaching and Tutoring (on Main)
What brought you to Love & Sex? I had just moved and didn't know anyone. I had just gotten internet access for the first time, and decided that spending WAY too much time online was the remedy. I was searching for places to meet other single people, and somehow ended up at iVillage. It's all really murky now, but I think hearing something on Oprah years before about iVillage (I think there might have been some members there or something) stuck and I decided to check it out.
How has your experience as a community leader affected your life? I'm a naturally shy person, so it's helped me come out of my shell a little bit. I have to be more outgoing because sitting back and watching is not what being a community leader is about. It's good practice for real life (which I'm still working on, but I'm getting better). I also tend to keep my opinions to myself in real life, so it's a way for me to learn to get my opinions out better in a "nice" way.
What's your most memorable and/or entertaining experience as a CL? Gosh, this is a hard one. I seem to remember posting something to someone about how her opinion really mattered to me (I'm thinking it was northwestwanderer-Sheri) and her response was a really heartfelt thank you. I don't know why, but it just seemed like she was a "big sister" giving me advice that was truly appreciated. I might have to dig that one up.
What are some of your offline hobbies and interests? Lately, I've been spending a lot of time trying to stay organized and on top of things. Is that a hobby? I like do things like play volleyball, plant flowers, and read. I just don't seem to have much time for those things lately. One thing I can always make time for, though, is SHOPPING!
Final thoughts? There have been times when I've felt burnt out, angry, irritated, flabbergasted, appalled, and fed up with some of the things I've encountered over the past four years. However, I can never see myself not being a part of iVillage. It's like my family- I can get mad at them, frustrated, etc. and still always want to come back.
Congratulations Kelli!
