Weird Little Things

An old high school friend got married out in San Francisco where she lived but was in town this past weekend for a post-nup party for those of us who did not go out there for the wedding. When we were talking about what first drew her to her husband, she mentioned that she saw him in a park and loved the way that he was relating to the dogs he was with. That got me thinking - what are the weird little things that draw me to someone? I thought this might be a fun thing to share with one another. So here are a few thigns that I seem to take notice of (physical as well as behavioral):

I love men's wrists and always look at how their watch looks.
I notice shoes. And then clothes. Sue me. I have a sartorial taste and like the same in my men.
I am a sucker for dimples and a great smile that shows them off.
I love a man who can laugh heartily and unabashedly.
If someone surprises me (for example, is a down-to-earh and serious person who suddenly makes the strangest joke), I am intrigued.

So here are a few of my initial observations about the opposite sex. Anyone else care to share?

Basic personal hygiene is important to me. Simple things like washing your hands after using the toilet or petting animals. So I pay close attention to a woman’s hands and feet. I have said it before but I think women who have well-groomed hands and feet are likely to be fastidious about personal cleanliness.

Pleated pants from the eighties? Mmmwwwwaaaahahahahaaaaa. I rarely encounter that but I had a good friend in our Cleveland office who used to wear them. My friend Sheila would call him on the phone and say, "Hello? This is the 1980s calling and we want our pants back." Cracked me up every time.

Strong hands - yes. My, oh my, oh my.

Makes you wonder what they can do with those hands, doesn't it?

In response to your saying women with well groomed hands and feet are likely to be clean,
there are lots of women at my job who have well groomed hands and feet that never wash their hands after taking the trash out.

Hair! I love a guy whos got good hair. I really like guys who have their hair spiked but I also like long hair sometimes. It depends on how it looks. Orlando Bloom in lord of the rings had gorgeous hair, he was a little too girly though.
I also tend to like guys who are goofy. I like them to be able to be serious too, but I noticed both long term relationships ive had in my life were with goofy guys.

this is going to sound stupid and SO subjective but... a man who is a MAN! Just carries himself like a manly man and yet you can sense he has this passionate side and sensitive side that only someone who holds his heart gets to see.

Hands... ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh nice manly - strong - BIG hands!!! UGH!!!!!

I love a man who can wear a suit... a good playgirl mag to me is a nice thick "Men's Warehouse" catalog! :p But I also really enjoy a guy who can pull this off... http://kohls.shoplocal.com/kohls/default.aspx?action=detail&flashbrowse=y&storeid=2396395&rapid=180200&pagenumber=5&listingid=-2096476170&ref=%2fkohls%2fdefault.aspx%3faction%3dbrowsepageflash%26storeid%3d2396395%26pagenumber%3d5%26rapid%3d180200%26prvid%3dkohls-05091
