I have phone interview with a company I had my eye for the past couple of years. This new position would be combining my account experience, but in the field I am going to school for. So it would me THE WORLD to me if I got this job.
Wish me lot's of luck and send positive thoughts my way. I really, really need this to work out for me!!!

Oh that sucks, I'm sorry! HR people shouldn't be rude, they are trying to attract great employees!
I had a bad interview once, it was in a city I really really wanted to move to. They loved me but I found them so unprofessional and disorganized. I was bummed but knew there was no way I could work there!
ugh! As a business student studying HR it really, really, irkes me when I hear stories such as yours. Over the past 20 years, HR really has had to fight hard to get over the stigma of being a glamourized secretorial job and now it is finally being respected as critical component for maintaining a company's competitive advantage. A good HR team will not only mean a better bottom line but happier, more productive employees.
Your interviewer was completely unprofessional, and sadly misrepresents the company. Keep looking, Kcol, for no one should have to work with her.
Goodluck!

That is really disappointing. I come from a PR background, and I can tell you that just one employee like that can kill the reputation of an otherwise good company.
KCol - you'll find other, better opportunities. Good luck and keep your chin up. :)

Kcol68,
I agree with you and Mary Poppins that the interview is a reflection of the company culture. I don't think companies realise that we are interviewing them as much as they are interviewing us. I've been to a lot of interviews where the interviewee thought all they needed to do was turn up and I would do all the hard work. When I started asking them challenging questions, they have got flustered, defensive and clearly showed how unprepared they were and how much they didn't know about the job and the company they worked for. I've been to a lot of interviews and it seems that I'm always the bridesmaid and never the bride but I believe that everything happens for a reason. At the end of the day, I think your success and happiness at a job depends on whether you fit into the corporate culture and not the nature of your role.
