Well, I just got home...he was nice. Good conversation, we shared our woes of dating, he said that he's very shy so the internet is a good place (great, another shy one!)...we ended up grabbing a bite to eat because I was starving, so we had some good food at my favorite bar :) I think he wanted me to contribute but then said "don't worry, I'll get this" and we kind of parted ways on the corner back to our cars, he shook my hand (I usually end a first date with a hug, but whatever).
Oh well, at least I got a free meal out of it ;)

Eeek...a handshake?
I second that! The other boy (the MIA one who I still see at his office....the one that is utterly confusing me right now) is shy, but I think you're right, I think they use that as an excuse not to do the work!
I say we take a stand! No more!
well... for every couple of terrible dates, there will be one truely fantastic one that'll sweep you off your feet for good. And hey, as my luck has it, I have even met acquaintes I knew (and liked) while on a terrible first date with a guy, who would later ask me out. (has happened twice already! why, I just don't know!)
ever noticed however, just when you've concluded to yourself that you're no longer interested in serious relationships and just want to be single and have fun, that dates seem to line up asking your heart for forever?? eeks.
having broken up with my ex 4 months ago, I have found getting back into the dating game really quite exciting. I have already met 3 new guys already... two who are not for me, and one whom I have a pretty big crush on (truth be told, I've had a crush on him since my first year at Uni almost 5 years ago!)
I used to have a soft spot for the shy guys, but now they annoy me. I had a date last Friday with a self-professed "shy guy" who couldn't hold up his end of a conversation if it had a handle on it. I'd ask a question, he'd answer with a short sentence, then sit there and stare at me. It's really annoying to be the one who asks all the questions and does all the work.
The same shy guy called me Sunday and left a sheepish, nervous message. I didn't call back right away because I've been super busy with errands and details for my new house. Well, Tuesday morning, he sent me an e-mail *reaming* me for not calling back. (I had planned to call Tuesday night). I mean, this e-mail was downright rude - saying things like, "if you're busy, stay up five minutes late to call -- it won't kill you."
Argh. Yes, dating is rough.
On a positive note, I had a date last night with a guy who was so easy to talk to. That made up for shy guy.
AJ, enjoying life with C.
