I have not seen the volleyball for a while, and last week her friend told me that she was in Los Angeles and would be back soon. Then, I asked her friend if the volleyball girl has a boyfriend and she said yes. So I guess she really was trying to blow me off a few weeks ago when I was talking to her. Why am I always attracted to the unavailable girls? While I hate to accept ideas like fate and bad luck, it is disappointing to see myself running into dead ends all the time.

It is frustrating, and we all go through this. Hang in there - you will find someone who is available and a good match for you. Patience is the hardest part, but it's what will get you there. (I have to remind myself of that on a daily basis).

I was told that before all else, I need to be happy with myself. So what does that mean? For the most part, I am satisfied with myself. For example, I am going out more, meeting people, working toward a career that I have always wanted, learning to express my feelings, and so on. Along the way, I develop more confidence and have fewer anxieties. The only thing missing, really, is a girl. I am not asking her to carry my burden or change my life. All I want is the experience. That is not a lot to ask for, right? I guess, like you said, the only thing I can do is to be patient....

No, it's not a lot to ask for. That's exactly what most of us on this board long for (well, except I'm looking for a guy, not a girl). It's just harder to come by than we are led to believe. It's special. It's relatively rare.

In the meantime, it's SO SO great that you are doing what you want to do, enhancing your career, gaining more confidence and so on. So, when that special girl does come along, it will work that much better because you have taken care of you first.

Keep at it - you're headed down the right road. :)

I just want to let you know that yesterday I talked to the volleyball girl. I said that I had a crush on her but if she has a boyfriend, then I will not try to pursue her.... I guess that we will be just acquaintances or friends.

She smiled and gave me a look like "I am sorry". Then she said that we will catch other on Fridays and scurried off. A bit later on, the friend invited me to dinner with the whole group. I went and during the conversation, I was told that every Sunday they go to the beach together and play ball. They invited me to come also and I think I will go....

If the girl welcomes me as a friend, I am okay with it. But I am trying to move on, because there is no hope here.
