So I have not been around lately. I have been kind of blue and out of sorts about the job thing. I am still currently working at my job but in my haste, decided to give them a notice of leave without anything to fall back on. So I have a little bit of time. But I really wanted to get a job in the field I am going to school for.... Well, I guess the social service field in Chicago is completely competive because even with my under-grad in Psychology, I am not getting ANY bites. But then the issue of leaving my current job it high priority, too. So I thought about getting my substitute teaching license and doing that full time for a year. It would give me the time I need to get to classes and the freedom I need right now. I know kids can be mean and really difficult with subs, but can it be worse then the cut-throat industry of advertising??
I need direction...

Subs are almost always in high demand, but sometimes don't get paid much at all.
Thanks for the input! It is greatly appreciated.
I am not so much worried whether the kids will like me and I can be a "ball-breaker" when I need to be. You have to stand up to people and stick to your guns in advertising, otherwise, you will get eaten alive here too. So I guess that part is not the part that worries me most, but thought I would be getting a lot of teachers warning me...
I think when you do full-time sub teaching, they pay you about $125 a day, so it would be less then I am making now, but the hours would allow me to take the earlier classes for grad school. And I think it would look good that I worked with kids for a year. Great advice about researching the districts with pay. I would have never thought about that...
