Hey! I'm in Alaska and we just got another 2 feet of snow and I STILL feel bad for the Denver Folk! I'm pretty sure they have more right now than we do. Ours just lasts til MAY!!!

It's winter, and it's Denver....what should the weather be? This is typical winter weather in Denver. If one lives in Phoenix and it's 120 degrees in July, then it's typical July weather for Phx.

So what?

I'm sorry...I didnt realize 3 major snowstorms in 3 weeks that closed highways and the airports was typical. Didnt realize that people lived without power for days or ranchers had starving cattle and that this was just par for the course in the Denver area.

Yes its winter and they are in the mountains and that snow and ice is expected...as a Midwesterner I know that all too well. And yet I dont find their situation to be entirely typical right now.

I see it differently, but to each their own. Its compassion...not a "so what" situation.

Exactly. Plus that cattle is the heart of those people and their incomes for the season. If their cattle die, they have big problems. Plus, it affects beef and milk prices for everybody.

Did you see the story of the bride that missed her wedding because of the first storm? Part of me feels really badly for her and part of me is like "why did you wait until just a few days before your wedding to travel?" Wouldnt you want to be there at least a week before??? I told R he needs at least a week before to travel and get to our wedding location.

No, neither I nor any of my friends who've gotten married in the past 2 years thinks that a couple needs to get to the wedding location a WEEK before. To do what? Sit around and try on the wedding dress? A few days before is fine, especially if one has a job and is taking 1-2 weeks off for the honeymoon itself. And I can't imagine telling a boyfriend what he needs to do or not do for a wedding that is far in the future, at best.

Thanks for your opinion but every situation is different, especially ours, and sometimes for couples and for us it is necessary due to special circumstances. Plus our wedding is October 5 2007...less than 9 months. These are things we are discussing now so the time can be taken off if necessary. Note I said discussion...not demanding or telling.

As for the bride that missed her wedding.....it was a winter wedding as well...weather IS one of those things that should be planned for or thought about in the winter in my opinion. The weather is a lot more volatile and can greatly affect travel in the winter than during the rest of the year. If it was a June wedding, and they didnt have special circumstances, then yeah...why a week?

LOL. With the the snow and the holidays, I managed to get 11 days off work. I'm not complaining too loudly. My puppy was happy to have me home, and she just LOVES the snow.

Of course, with the first storm, I also had a water main break and was without water AND snowed in for three days. I was melting snow for my dog to drink, and a local legislator delivered some bottled water to me in his jeep because I couldn't get out. It's been fun. Three days without a shower is not my idea of fun.

Next week, we're in for sub-zero temps. The saga continues... :)

Actually, this is very atypical for Denver this early. We usually get our big storms in March, and it's not uncommon to have a week of sixty degrees in January.

I'm not supposed to share that -- that's Denver's big secret. :)

Oh, and we're not actually in the mountains. We're on the plains - 50 miles east of the mountains. The ski resorts didn't really get much snow while Denver got pelted.
