I don't think they're cheating, I just think that they are not over eachother, and got into new relationships when they weren't ready.. I think it's more emotional infedelity, which is just as bad.. if not worse in my eyes.

The song is based on a real situation that Austin Winkler faced.

Personally, I don't like the song. Well, musically, I do - but I hate the lyrics. Yay, make millions by advocating two-timing. I flip stations if it comes on.

Well for a small bit of additonal insight - I was shocked! to discover this group are Oklahoma natives. Being that we tend to be better know for country acts such as Garth/Reba and Tobi (and one more guy, i think)...

I am a huge Creed and Nickelback fan and this group reminds me alot of those groups. However, I have not been able to read much more into this song, other than the fact they are indeed singing about cheating.

For me, this song is very moving as well. The singer puts forth great emotion as he sings the lyrics. I can (personally) relate to this song. It's not until you've gone thru something like loving someone who should not be yours, that you can maybe relate to both the passion and pain of unforutnately getting 'caught-up' in such a circumstance. The lyrics in this song and the way that he sings them (as if he's singing from a personal place in his heart) are extremely powerful for me.

Thank you for bringing this up!! I am new here, as I am newly single again. My boyfriend and I split up just after midnight on New Years Eve. My friends told me that they just couldn't keep it from me anymore---they knew my boyfriend was cheating on me. The girl he was cheating WITH was one of my best friends in high school. What is worse--- my boyfriend and I loved this song-- I personally think the guy singing has a very sexy voice but I hated that it was about cheating or emotional cheating. But now when I look back on it, my boyfriend loved to sing that song, and now I guess I know why. So now even though I still think the guy's voice is sexy and I used to LOVE the song, I HATE it. It makes me want to throw up because it makes me picture my (ex)boyfriend and (ex)friend together.

Ok, well I read all of your replies, and was a little put off because you all have negative views of the song. And I totally understand the whole cheating/two-timing notion the song gives. But the truth is, when I read the name of this discussion, I actually felt a bit relieved, becuase I thought that maybe someone else out there has been in my position. But apparently not.

The first time I heard this song on the radio, it brought tears to my eyes, because I have been the girl who calls the guy singing, except that I wasn't seeing anyone else. I met my best friend on our first day of university. We clicked straight away. And we both felt the chemistry. However, I was young to start university (I am in Australia, so I was 17, and the legal drinking age is 18) and I couldn't go out with my friends to clubs or bars. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I could never tell my friend (who was 19 at the time) how I felt because he was always out and I was always at home. One night, he met a girl who became his girlfriend. They are still togther after 2 years.

During this time, my friend and I have admitted we still have feelings for each other, but my friend is too weak to break it off with his gf. We have kissed, but that is all. I am still totally in love with him and anytime I am with them both, my heart shatters. Anyway, one night shortly after we had kissed, I called him crying because I was so confused and so upset that I had been involved with him cheating on his gf. He told me he couldn't talk right now because his gf was there. He was really concerned so he left the room to talk to me. He also said that he still had lots of feelings for me and that he thought about me all the time. And that was so wrong of him to do. Not only did he hurt me further, he was emotionally cheating on his gf.

That song is exactly my situation. And everytime I hear it, I think of that night. And my situation. And a part of me deep down wishes that he would tell me that he wishes I was his gf and that I make it hard to be faithful. I'm so hung up on him and I can't let go. I know its wrong, I really do.

But thats wot that song means to me.

The first time I heard that song was on Labor Day weekend, so it's actually been in rotation on the radio for a long time. This happened a few days after I had seen my ex again for the first time in about a year. He had sent me an email after we saw each other, mentioning that "my favorite part about you is the same as it always was, your lips are full and beautiful, absolutely Gorgeous". So when I first heard the song, it was very synchronistic for me, and kind of confirmed that whatever it is that he feels for his new GF, it's kind of shadowed by whatever residual feelings/thoughts he has for me. And yes, I do agree with the other posters- the song is about the emotional cheating of a former couple that has not quite gotten over each other...
