Doesn't it feel like a weight has been lifted?
Thanks K! It was one of the hardest things I've done in my life. Heck, it took me TWO YEARS to work up to it! But yes, I do feel like a weight has been lifted. There is that new unsure feeling in its place - but overall, I'd rather be where I am now than where I was a week ago so... I'll deal with it! :)
Ya know in a lame attempt to not have to do what I had to do - I tried to get my mother to go see my therapist probably a year and a half ago. And during our talk when she was questioning what kind of therapist was feeding me this crap - I said "you are more than welcome to go talk to her" and she's like "I'm sure I am" (she was still in her "b" stage! :p )
Anyway... if she goes - great! If not, like my therapist said in her voicemail back to me "whether or not things change you know you did it - you did it for you and so things will change inside of you whether or not your mother takes what you said to heart". And I do beleive that - it wasn't only a feat for me to approach my mom - it was a feat for me to approach SOMEONE! And that's where a sense of confidence can grow from (I hope)!
Thanks for your reply and reading my post! :p You don't HAVE to answer this - but have you ever done anything similar? With a parent or not.
Are you gearing back up for school? when does it start?
Maybe since you talked to your mom, she'll start thinking about the past and maybe realize she has some issues to deal with and will be willing to see a therapist.
It's weird - I've found 90% of the people I talk to/know... have had to confront one or both parents at one time or another... it blows my mind! And makes me feel like I was really tardy on confronting mine! LOL
Do you think the fact that you have some distance between you and your mother helps? Was it always your intention to move away from your hometown?
It seems like it was yesterday that summer was starting, I can't believe you're already putting your room back together and getting ready to start again!
"So, she gets the kids whose parents are worried about status and frou frou stuff, and I get the parents who want their kids to learn." That's cool and you should feel pride from it!!! :)
Thanks again for talking with me about the mom stuff! :)
Yeah, I always wanted to move away.
