Singles Seating Activism!!!

Hi friends

I have recently become a "singles seating" activist!

Last weekend I went to a beautiful charitable gala as a single person. They promised me that I would be seated with other singles. Was that the case? Nope. They put me and my single male friend at different tables and both of our tables were NOT single tables! In fact, at my table I was seated in between two older, very longterm couples...one gay one straight.

Now I had a great time nonetheless but it started to bug me...so I wrote them a note. I told them "it's not easy going to these events as a single, is it too much to ask that you put some attention to our seating so we have the best chance at connecting and making friends. I was seated next to some older couples, who were kind to me, but they weren't really interested in making friends because we didn't have anything in common".

I wrote this charitable gala and another one...one of them said "YES, we WILL have single seating...we understand"!

Am I going nuts to make a deal out of this?

A good idea. I've never thought to ask to be seated with other solo event attendees, but I might give that a try.

Actually that's one of the smartest things I've heard lately. It makes COMPLETE sense and for my own sake I hope people start thinking to do that sort of thing. Spread the word :)
