Yeah, doesn't seem like news to me. I don't really see a tremendous problem with it. Hell, we have a lot more power than we sometimes think, WE'RE the choosy ones. ;)

I hate the word "hot" though....to me it conjured images of stick-thin bleach-blonde women with huge breasts and tons of make up. Maybe that's just me. :)

Ha Ha..easy for you to say. How about the 'less fortunate' ones ? And I agree about the "hot" description. Sounds juvenile and stupid.

Well, if it's the way we are, it's the way we are. People who are trying to fight against human nature will lose everytime. BUT look around. MOST people end up married/with someone/or at least have had one or two relationships in their lifetime. MOST people are not supermodels or even "hot". Like the article says, it's (attraction/attractiveness) all relative.

I agree. Nature has programmed us to "improve" our gene pool by letting the most attractive (of either sex) be the most prolific breeder. Every member tries to breed with the most attractive he or she can find.

Who is funding these studies? I mean, they are wasting perfectly good money on something that should be obvious to everyone. If you look at most couples, they tend to match each other in looks. It's rare to see a really good looking person with someone who is not also very good looking.

I am glad to see I'm not the only one who hates the word "hot." Something about that word takes the person -- and the mystery of attraction between people -- out of the equation. It's almost too generic.

AJ, enjoying life with C.

Well, regarding "hot"...I just picture some frat boy telling his buddies some ditzy girl is hot. Not my scene. :)

I have never OLD, but reading posts from those on the board who have done so in the past - there needs to be some men who take a good read of that study! Wouldn't you agree - ladies. LOL

<>

I just wonder why you'd perceive that as "hot". Do you hear a lot of men say that's so? Or is it influenced from the media?

It's just I'm tall, thin and blonde, but it doesn't make me a bad person. Seems like a lot of the people who post on the board have a thing against us.

Wow, big surprise there! Why they invested money in a study that states the obvious seems a waste to me. We all know that if you don't either dress like a skank or have a perfect body (i.e. huge boobs, long legs, flat stomach, and otherwise perfect features), you don't stand a chance in hell. If you're an average woman, you don't get a 1st or 2nd glance. Maybe it's just guys in their 20s, idk, but it just seems like normal girls get overlooked ALL THE FRIGGIN TIME. I'm a biology major, but sometimes I get so pissed off with it in this aspect that I just want to give up looking and hoping that someday I won't be so invisible. I'm not bad looking, but not a supermodel either, and I think I can be a fun, laid-back female, but obviously the good qualities I do have are lost on half the population of the world.. and I'm sure a ton of women feel the same way. I'm so sick of getting visually dismissed by guys that I'm starting to lose faith that guys want more than an easy whore with perfect features.

Oh, no, no! I'm talking about super-fake, loads of make up, yellow-blonde, nothing-on-her-body-is-real blondes. And yes, I have heard some guys say so but the media (here) doesn't help either. Nothing against you! :) Some of my friends are blonde, it's not that either....just that specific type.

edit: Think Pam Anderson....the woman is NOT attractive, I'm sorry.
