I have forced myself to get rid of old e-mails and correspondence with exes, but I have saved a few special photos, some gifts from exes and one or two cards.
I don't have an SO currently, so that's not really an issue.
It depends on the relationship. I've kept things from relationships that were good, but I've also had really bad relationships so I've thrown out everything from those relationships just because I don't want reminders of those persons.
Over time I got rid of pretty much everything, except for a blanket my X gave me. It was really neat and reminded me of some other aspect of knowing him, not exactly the relationship if that makes any sense. I got rid of all the personal mementos, romantic gifts, letters, etc.
I do not keep letters from exes. I had letters from my exhusband because he was in the Navy so they were in a box, I read them one more time after we got divorced about 6 months after our divorce, and then I ripped them all up and threw them away it was a very healing process for me.
But as far as cards or anything, I don't keep them. As far as momentos of dates and such I don't keep momentos of dates. I'm just not into that. Unless it's a show, or something, I do keep momentos of shows (such as broadway shows) but that's only because of the significance of that but so far no guy has every taken me to a broadway show so I haven't had to worry about that.
As far as gifts, yes I've kept gifts men have given me, they are gifts they aren't suppose to be tossed out afterwards and if anyone I am currently with gets jealous over something I am wearing because an ex gave it to me than they have issues and I probably wouldn't be with them very long if they expressed jealousy over it.
I keep everything.
What SO?

AJ, enjoying life with C.
The ex wasn't worth much, but the stuff he gave me was. I sold it.
