Early in 2005 after 8ys together my boyfriend and I split. However we’ve spent the past 2 Christmases together basically hanging out – mall, dinner with family/alone, taking drives and visiting friends- during this time it hardly feels like we split and the days usually end in a make-out session.

You just simply have to not call, or tell him no if he calls, or don't answer his calls.

Thanks for the suggestions; but Simple is simply what it’s not – ever heard the song by “Huey Lewis And The News - stuck with you” there’s a line that says we are bound by all the rest, all the same friends at the same address J

He is like family especially to my parents, and if his invites me over It’s impossible to tell them no, not that I would want to after all they still call on my b-day.

It’s not that I miss him really; we go through the entire year without seeing each other except when I go home for Xmas and a few days during the year.

The best I came up with is not to intentionally go anywhere together, though the odds are against us; we will eventually end up at the same dinner, clubs, hangouts and parties.

It is socially as cruel and blind as the practice of cannibalism at the dawn of civilization, when men ate each other because they had not yet learned to take food from the soil or to consume the abundant animal life around them. The time has come for us to civilize ourselves by the total, direct and immediate abolition of poverty."

I let my ex-fiancee of 6 years go last year. It was hard, but it was the best thing I ever did for me! I stopped contacting him. When he contacts me the conversations are brief, friendly and neutral. He has contacted me 2 times in the last year.
