NYE-I expected more from friends!!!!

OK....so in the past if I was single on New Year's I was depressed about it. This year is different. I am going for an early dinner with a friend, then coming home, building a fire, and watching some movies with the cat, and I am looking forward to it. I think the big change in me is, over the past few months, I have had a bunch of dates that were a total waste of makeup, so I am realizing it is truly better to be happy in my life alone while I am still hopful to meet someone etc. Healthy, right? BUT...I have had two (married) friends today give me the sad little "Oh....you're going to be alone for New Year's...you poor thing" type of response. I could have gone to a party, but I'm not big on driving with all the drunks out, plus I just feel like being home alone after being with family over Christmas. My family is not at all pressuring about me getting married, but my married friends seem to assume I must be miserable?!? ARGH!!! Does anyone else have this?

Well you're not alone, I'm spending NYE at home with pizza and the CSI, Law and Order, and Twilight Zone marathons. We can hang together! Honestly I don't know about you, but I'm sick of married people or in relationships people with their pitiful comments and stares. I'm sick of politely responding to their rude statements and have been much happier being rude right back. Yes I did point out that she looks a little heavier since the last time I saw her and thankfully every gym in town is offering a membership deal and that he seemed to be thinning on top, hopefully theres a Rogaine sale too. Funny how their annoying comments stop while they start obsessing over themselves.
Happy New Year!
Yes, yes, yes...I have experienced this!! DITTO.........I am doing NOTHING tonight...which is what I WANT to do...I am no longer a big partier...so what's the point? Not to mention the drinking & driving laws now!! It's just not fun anymore...I was invited to go to a party in Austin, but I just don't feel like making the drive...and I have lunch plans tomorrow with my family so I don't want to be ragged out and tired. I just can't hang anymore if I don't get my beauty rest!! =)
Even when I was in a long-term relationship, we never went to a NYE party...we would go to a very nice dinner and go home..and probably be in bed (maybe not asleep) ;-) by 11pm!! hehe
I am perfectly happy being single..I'm sure you have read some of my other posts..but I have been on a lot of dates the past couple of years through online dating...but none of them lasted and it's just drainnning...
I will be home tonight with my doggie, with a fire, drinking mint hot chocolate.
Spending it with my dog. (-: And I have to say, she is a brown eyed beauty and a heart breaker. ((-:
Some people just assume alone is a sad thing. Yet they will look forward to one day when the old man is out and the kids
I'm with you too!
Cheers!!! I'm happy to be home, baking cupcakes and watching Shrek 2 (PST). Reflecting back on the year, I've been on a handful of dates (plus just getting out of a relationship) and my friends think I'm nuts when I ask, "Don't you ever just want to take a break from dating?" Smile, I do have a couple of other girlfriends who are spending tonight by themselves and loving it, too.
Happy New Year, Girls!!!
That's the total opposite to my married friends. They are all happily married, but when I get down about being single they remind how my life does actually rock.

Totally can relate to that! I cracked up over the 'waste of makeup' I've been on a few of those dates myself recently! I am convinced most men are perverts who have no clue as to how to talk to women on dates.
Then I signed up for Eharmony. I couldn't believe they found people to match me! I am actually talking to
