why one year? because i moved back to my hometown of 5,000 people to help my folks out until next december and now want to kill myself!!

all the men my age (25) here are either on drugs, have crazy gfs, have at least 1 illegitimate kid or are simply gross ie don't even shower! it is a logging community and it is crap.

its like moving from ny city to the place with one gas station you see in horror movies.

I AM NOT KIDDING!!!!

moving again is not an option - i am here because my folks own a business that is paying off my debt and enabling me to open my own business back in the city next year but being here is driving me crazy.

this town is so small, no one from here or even the next two towns are on dating sites - IVE LOOKED!! its like being at your high school reunion everyday. its disgusting.

join clubs? unless i am a hunter, that wont happen. my last bf was in 2005 and i have been single until sept 2007...then moved here in nov 2007!!! i had a bf for a mnth and a bit.

i dont NEED a bf but come on! knowing i ll be single for another year makes me want to puke. i really just need to vent but it makes me wanna cry daily.

I know you're just venting and that's fine, but being so dramatic about it WILL make everything seem worse than it is.

I live in a fairly big city, and the guys aren't much better. LOL

Have you had a chance to read 'The Secret'. I'm not to suggest these types of books usually - I'm not a self-help book sort of person, but I would deinitely try and stay as positive as possible. A year can seem a long time, but instead of focusing on not getting dates I would focus on getting the debt paid off and working towards your new business. Next thing you know, the year will have flown by.

I haven't had a BF for 9 months - the most single I've been since 16! It's been hard to get to an age where you don't meet guys who are available (38) and it has dented my ego a little bit, but I am looking to use the time to learn to like me more. I want to be as confident in my life as the men I want to date.

Shywon was right about men not finding women whose lives are falling apart that attractive. Yes, they do like the Knight in Shining Armor role on ocassion, but in reality they want confident , happy women just like we want confident, happy men.

Let us know how it goes.

hey everyone,

thanx for the input but I obvioulsy didn't come across the wrong way. my "only" concern isnt to "land a date". I have a job here, am paying off my debt and have 2 online businesses. I have read the secret but my issue here is boredom. Yes actually, men in a big city are better because there are more of them! If I date someone here and we split up, the whole town will know my life store, its retarded. But anyway like I said I'm not the type of girl who NEEDS bf - but I've been single way too long and so I go back to the city - a 10 hrs drive and sleep with my last bf every month or so. that's gonna have to do until I move back I guess!

have at least 1 illegitimate kid

LOL.. You can't say that word ! It is so politically incorrect, that the word itself is illegitimate. I think what you mean is kids born to single mothers (assuming the kid wasn't snuffed out before birth).

I think I'd have anxiety about that, too.

Just be lucky you're not in Iraq, and worrying if the next day is going to come or not.

I see what you're saying but at the same time it still erks me when people say things like that - it's like unless you're fighting for your country you don't have a right to be sad. we all have emotions and have a right to feel them out whether we're dying for other people or not. not to mention if I feel bad for anyone it's civilians who didn't CHOOSE to be in a war.

but that's a whole other topic unto itself. I am trying to look forward to the end of the year. thanx
