Okay this doesn't relate to being single except for the fact that I have no one at home to appreciate what I am doing.

I am currently involved in a huge, historic petitioning effort in CA.

This is something that happens to anyone who is driven and successful. People just expect it from you and don't feel the need to have to recognize it. I know it stinks, because I always exceed goals set so more is expected of me. They will gush over people who aren't as driven because it seems they need the encouragement more than those of us who are the over-achievers. That just seems to be human nature. That's why tey savour watching anyone who has reached greatness fall.

Luckily, my current boss is pretty good about recognizing my success in sales but I've had others just take it for granted I will go way and above.

The thing is we do want praise and recognition, so get that from those who genuinely care about you because you won't get it from people like your boss. People like yourself also make your boss nervous, basically you're the threat who could get their position. I had a boss claim he created

I totally agree with you beach! When you are a capable individual you will continue to get more and more to do with little to no praise and someone who seems to be incompetent or stumbles quite a bit in their job gets praise at every turn and you are sitting there saying could you possible throw me a bone once in a while. It happens to me all the time at work.

I think it truly is the nature of the beast.

Glad to hear your boss gave you the recognition you deserved. It may be she didn't want others who have put in less effort to feel bad about themselves and then lose them in the process.
