Where do you sit in the movie theater?

When I go to the theater alone I usually sit about 20% of the way up from the screen. In other words, the fourth or fifth row, or sometimes the third. This is closer than most of the audience, but I much prefer being close to the screen. When I'm with other people I defer to their preferences, but other people always want to sit in the back. Which is why I like to go to the theater alone. It's just not nearly as good in the back. Some people actually sit in the backmost row in the whole theater, which I really don't understand.
When I go to opening nights of big movie (which I don't so much anymore) it is often sold out, but even in a nominally sold out theater it is always possible to find a seat in the front row. Which I really don't mind. It's fun to sit in the front row of a packed theater for a brainless popcorn movie.
(P.S. Watching movies at home on a TV or computer screen is really, really second-rate. That ain't cinema.)
