My sister has been dating someone for a few months and just when she thought it had a future, he informs her the other day his ex-girlfriend "really broke his heart badly" and that he's still "healing." He didn't break up with my sister but she believes this is truly a sign of things to come because once a guy says something like this it's pretty much downhill. She said he told he he wanted to meet her over lunch this week to "talk."

Both her and I are in our thirties and I'm starting to find it really depressing how neither of us can't find anyone. I'm afraid we're going to end up as the two lonely old maid sisters, and the end of our family line. No one understands why neither of us can find anyone and get married already. Family friends, aquaitences, neighbors, gay men, every time they find out we're both single, they're like, you two are so pretty, smart, kind, successful, how could you both be single?

Anyway, I feel so bad for her because all of her friends are married or have steady boyfriends that they'll probably end up marrying and before meeting this guy she spent most weekends by herself because her friends all have dates or are going out with other married couples. This just sucks. I don't even know how to help her myself because I have no luck meeting anyone. And when it comes to our parents, forget it. They think we're far gone at this point and that we're destined to be single and they will never ever see grandchildren (most of their friends already have grandchildren).

I hate it when guys say they need "to talk."

All I can say is, just because everyone else is married or in a relationship, it does not mean they are happy.
